Personally - I am starting more and more to like the manual use of discount codes. Not all shoppers really care about the price so why not focus what you can afford upon those that are familiar with "coupon shopping".

I currently offer automatic free shipping discount taken off during shipping for orders over $75. This certainly works particularly as I choose quiet a high bar for shipping at $7.95.

However - I often wonder about instead offering the $7.95 as a credit against repeat orders.

Does anyone have experience of this or thoughts on the subject?

I would like to be able to send emailer with specials where the user click on the link to the product and the discount automatically gets added to the cart with the item.
