Author: geoff
Subject: 891
Posted: 18-June-2007 at 7:58am

My store has about 4500 products and 300+ categories. The advanced search SQL query takes 2-3seconds to return results. I was wondering if other ProductCart developers have the same issue or whether it is something that I am doing wrong.

I see this latency as a big usability issue and have taken the search functionality off all pages and implemented Google Coop instead. However Google Coop requires that all the pages have been indexed and Google decides the logical sequence to return against any particular string entered by the user. On the plus side - Google does provide a better solution than Product Cart as it allows non-exact matching etc.

What is your experience with search?
