Author: TrekLightGear
Subject: 5555
Posted: 04-April-2013 at 1:54pm

It seems to me that ProductCart could benefit from a few small tweaks to improve the way backordered items are handled in the system.

Traditionally when a customer places an order for an item that's backordered e-commerce etiquette dictates that you don't charge their card until the item is ready to ship. Which means that every time we go to the Batch Process orders screen to process the orders in the queue we need to remember to uncheck every order that's backordered. Unless you've got yourself a note with a list of names or order ID's for all the orders that shouldn't be processed each time there's no easy way to know and often we wind up accidentally charging someone's card for an order that isn't ready to ship for a few weeks.

Suggestion: Include an additional order status or some other type of flag on an order to mark it's status as 'Backordered'. Any orders marked as Backordered show up under a different grouping on the Batch Process screen so they don't get lumped in with the others.

Seems like a pretty easy fix?
