Author: GreggS
Subject: 5396
Posted: 03-January-2013 at 2:14pm

Using UPS, there is no end of day report nor high value report (packages valued $1000 or more). Just to make everyone aware, UPS drivers will not scan any high value packages without a high value report because they become personally liable for the loss of the package. Therefore, if the high value package goes on the UPS truck without a scan, UPS will NOT pay any claims for that package is lost or damaged.

There is a capability for Product Cart to implement the capability for the high value report. UPS, as stated below, says there can be a high value report generated. Has anyone implemented the ControlLogReceipt tag?

UPS stated:

Unfortunately, the Shipping API does not work the same as WorldShip so you will not receive an end of day report. You will receive a High Value Report when processing a High Value shipment. You will want to make sure that you include the [ControlLogReceipt] tag for your High Value shipments.

The High Value Report is returned in the response in one of the supported formats specified by the developer. In each case it will be a Base64 encoded file that must be decoded and printed. 2 copies should be printed, both will be signed by the driver and the driver will leave one copy as a receipt. The file, once decoded is a simple HTML file that can be printed locally.

For further assistanceon the High Value Report please reference our Shipping Package XML/WebServices Developers Guide dated for December 31, 2012.

To receive your Developer APIs documentation, please follow the instructions below:

1. Browse to www.ups.com and log in with your user ID and password.

2. Hover over the Support tab and click on Technology Support.

3. Click the UPS Developer Kit, located under the "Tools and Resources" section.

4. Click on the desired API from the "Developer APIs" section.

5. Download the documentation from the "Download the API" section.
