If you go to a product in the control panel just click on the images tab and there is a checkbox next to Enable Image Magnifier:
This will enable the magnifier icon per product basis.

Does anyone know what controls whether I see a magnifier icon or a little hand when I hover over images that can be enlarged.  Is that something in highslide that does this?  OR in the browser ?
