Pretty much any gateway worth their salt provides an Authorize.Net emulation. Authorize.net's API is "out of the box" with pretty much every shopping cart. This is why most ever other decent "also ran" gateway has an emulator. This is very common.

To use an emulator currently, one needs to dig through the code and edit the target URL for the XML post.

It would be nice if one could specify this URL for live and test through the control panel. This way any PC user could easily set up the gateway of their choice in an Authorize.Net emulation mode.

Granted not all of these gateways are faithful on their emulation, and there will be issues with some of them. But still, it's a good idea, and I'd be happy to be to go to referral if there is an issue with the emulation.

This would just make PC that much more accessible to merchants, IMHO.
