Hi Katharina,

Yes, I did the edit. Once I added the hidden product to a visible category as well as the hidden category as Greg suggested, the link worked fine but the product also appears in the visible category as well as the hidden category so it can be seen in the storefront. Weird.

Did you edit the viewprdcode.asp file?  That needs to be done to make it work.  Here is the link for the info:

Greg, thanks. I just assigned the item to a visible category and indeed it worked via my link. However, the item now also visible in the non-hidden category I assigned it to. It seems that it defeats the purpose of the hidden category idea, especially in my use which is as a special order for a specific customer. Is it supposed to work that way or is this a bug?

Hi All,

I've set up a hidden category and added a product in it for a special order. Generated category navigation. When attempting to view the product from the control panel, I get the message that the category or item is not available. I've changed the url of the item by first removing the item from the hidden category, previewing it, copying the url, changing the &adminPreview=1 to &specialLink=1. Changed the pc/viewprodcode.asp as indicated in the instructions and when clicking on my link I get the following error message The product or category that you are trying to view is either not valid or not available. If you believe that you are receiving this message in error, contact us.. I'm currently on v4.0 SP4. This is the link I'm using This is the link I'm using

Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?
