Sub-products are a combination of available options: each sub-product must contain one attribute from each option group. In your case, you need to specify BOTH the color attribute AND the size attribute. Not all colors and all sizes must be represented, but each sub-product that does exist must contain one attribute from each of the two option groups.

    Author: ACTMARK
Subject: 3618
Posted: 13-April-2010 at 2:52pm

I have an interesting problem that I can't figure out an easy solution for. What if you have a product that has two different colours, say silver and white. The vendor SKU for the silver shoes is 6080 and the white shoes is 6081. This vendor as with many vendors, do not use suffix to denote options. I am therefor forced to create a unique parent SKU, such as 6080-81. The first option is Colour and the attributes are silver**white for the parent SKU. The issue happens with the second option which is size. Each two sub-products come in different size range. The silver has say size 5 to 11 but the white shoes only has sizes 6 to 9. The issue is that I have unique SKU ID's from the vendor for the 2 different colours which allows me to use the sub-product import feature but they do not provide unique SKU ID's for the individual sizes. I thought if I listed the attribute range for each specific colour, Product Cart would generate new SKUs for each size for white shoes then silver shoes. It apparently does not. Has anyone come across this problem and how did you solve it or work around it without manually entering each size as a new sub-product.
