Author: ProductCart
Subject: 3136
Posted: 23-October-2009 at 5:48pm

You are probably referring to the new, default interface that ships with ProductCart. As you know, that is just a placeholder. 99% of ProductCart-powered stores use their own graphical interface.

There are many ways to create a Web store design for ProductCart:

- design it yourself
- create it based on a template that you can purchase
- have a designer create it for you

There are detailed instructions in the ProductCart documentation on how to take a Web page and turn into your Web store design.

http://wiki.earlyimpact.com/productcart/storefront-integrate

In many cases, the graphical interface already exists and it's the Web site itself that the company already has and uses, and which can be quickly adapted for use with ProductCart.

For a look at how ProductCart blends nicely with all sorts of Web site designs, we recommend taking a look on GreatOnlineStores.com a directory of some of the stores powered by ProductCart.

With regard specifically to the design of "One Page Checkout", you have a lot of flexibility there too. Please see:

http://wiki.earlyimpact.com/productcart/storefront-opc

We hope this helps!

Edited by earlyimp - 23-October-2009 at 5:51pm

    Author: slinc
Subject: 3136
Posted: 23-October-2009 at 4:24pm

Today I took a few minutes to review V4 to see if we wanted to upgrade. What I quickly noticed is that the overall site layout is much wider than the previous version. The width of the site is now 1100 px.

The problem I am worried about is that 33% of our visitors have a screen resolution of 1024 x 768 or less. Which means that 33% of our visitors will have to scroll horizontally during the usage of the site and new checkout process. I HATE horizontal scrolling.

My question is has anyone reviewed this or tried to change the width on V4 to fit within the more standard 1024 x 768 resolution? I don't care that much about the general site since I can change that but more concerned about the complex functionality of the One Page Checkout process. I prefer to not have to touch much of that code if possible.

I played with the demo site and using FireBug I changed some of the widths on the checkout process. It looks like I should be able to compact it up and it still look ok. Approximately 960 width is my target.

Just looking to see if anyone else had any feedback. Thanks.
