Here's the fix for Vista 64 bit OS

There are 2 ODBC data managers - the default is the 64-bit version found in the Control Panel. This one will NOT work
 
Steps to setup:
1) Navigate to: C:\Windows\SysWOW64
2) Run the program: odbcad32.exe
3) Setup your SYSTEM DSN
4) Make sure you change the Port in "Client Configration" (the 2-nd step) of the wizard
5) Use Server authentication etc
6) Test & Save the connection
 
To use this in MS:
Let>str=DSN=PCart;Uid=user_id;Pwd=user_pwd;
 
This should save you some time IF you move to Vista-64

I'm not sure if it's related to Vista 64 bit OS, I created an ODBC datasource and it successfully connected, however, MS does throws an error:
 
[Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data Source name not found and no default driver specified.

Hi; I use Jolt Hosting and they are great - but they lock down the default port and I cannot access the database remotely.
 
I was told to use the following syntax: server,port
 
as in...
 
Driver=Provider={SQL Server};Server=server,port;Database=dbname;Uid=user_name;Pwd=user_pwd;
 
But it does not connect via Macro Scheduler. It works with SQL Server Management Express...
 
Can anyone offer some alternatives to connect via Macro Scheduler for a locked default port?
