Author: Hamish
Subject: 1935
Posted: 27-August-2008 at 9:27am

Hi The very easiest way is to set a specific display order for the products in the category.
Products > Manage Categories > Products & update the order. We always number the products 10,20,30 etc, to allow for easy insertions between existing items in the future.

Other than that the next simplest way I can think of, which doesn't involve any base code changes is to update your "menu". If you change the link to the category from the menu to read :
http://www.barkleigh.com/store/pc/viewCategories.asp?pageStyle=p&ProdSort=1&idCategory=124
It will achieve what you want. A couple of caveats though :
- Anytime you update the menu you will need to re-apply this change (If you generate it via the admin screens).
- If customers access the category via another route the sort wouldn't be applied (such as a search) - But I doubt that's an issue as they would be searching for a specific product anyway.

Other that that you will need some customisation of the base code, but with these two options it shouldn't be necessary.
