is there an effective way to bypass the login screen for returning customers when they order?

I understand that the password is set up to make it easier for the customer to order, but forgotten passwords can make the order process anoyoing.

Some carts make entering a password optional, meaning you can order all you want without ever having to create, remember or retreive a password.  Does anyone know a quick fix to this?
